The application process

The application is submitted online through the Ministry of Transport website, or by post. A doctor authorised by the Ministry reviews the documents and decides on entitlement. In certain cases the applicant will be asked to attend a face-to-face medical examination.

If the application is refused, there is a right of appeal within a defined period.
